Inside the historic charm of The Oliver Building in Kansas City, Madi and Trevor celebrated a wedding day filled with laughter, connection, and unforgettable moments.
There was a sense of calm in the morning, and laughter echoed through the getting-ready rooms. At the same time, there was a quiet awareness that something meaningful was unfolding.
From the first hug of the morning to a dance floor that never seemed to empty, their day carried this beautiful sense of connection. Every moment felt shared, and the joy in every room was almost tangible.
Nestled in the historic West Bottoms, The Oliver Building gave them the perfect space to celebrate a day that felt emotional, personal, and completely their own.
Madi and Trevor’s story began in early 2021 at a Super Bowl party. At the time, Madi had been quarantining for quite a while during the pandemic. When a friend invited her to a small Super Bowl gathering, she also mentioned there was someone she really wanted Madi to meet. That someone was Trevor.
They met that night and hit it off almost instantly. The Chiefs may not have won the game, but something much better started that evening.
The next day, Madi got a call saying she had a snow day. Trevor quickly learned just how excited she could get about something small like that. A few days later, they went on their first official date at Brew Lab during trivia night. They were both terrible at trivia, but laughed their way through the entire evening.
From there, their relationship grew naturally. They spent evenings cooking dinner together, hanging out with Trevor’s dog Milo, and meeting up with friends around Kansas City.
That summer, they took their first trip together to Chicago, where Trevor met Madi’s cousin and her husband. Soon after, Trevor visited St. Louis to meet Madi’s entire family. That weekend, he even helped move three different houses with nothing but a smile.
That was the moment Madi realized just how special he was.
From that point on, things only continued to grow. They met each other’s families, eventually moved in together, and built a life filled with laughter, travel, and everyday adventures.
Madi thought she was heading to a girls’ dinner with two of her friends, but one of them mentioned she had a work meeting beforehand and suggested everyone dress up.
When Madi arrived at her friend’s house, they decided to try a new restaurant instead. As they drove, Madi realized they were heading toward Loose Park. That’s when she saw Trevor standing there in the cutest suit.
He opened the car door and walked her toward the park, where he gave the sweetest speech before getting down on one knee. She said yes through laughter and happy tears.
Then something even more special happened. Both of their parents stepped out from around the corner. Their families had never met before, so it meant so much to share that moment together.
After celebrating in the park, they headed to dinner at Granfaloon. When they arrived, even more friends were waiting to surprise them. One of Madi’s cousins had even flown in from Chicago to celebrate.
It was the perfect beginning to their engagement.
The morning of the wedding day began slowly on the third floor, where everyone gathered to get ready.
One of the things couples love most about this venue is how thoughtfully it’s laid out. With several getting-ready suites, there is plenty of space for everyone. As a result, the morning never feels crowded or rushed.
Instead, the day begins the way wedding mornings should, calm and intentional. If you know Madi, you know that wherever she goes, the energy of the room shifts in the best way. From gifts to all of her bridesmaids, family, and vendors, to a brunch with her entire crew before getting ready. Madi truly thought of it all.
She has a genuine way of connecting with people, the kind of person who makes you feel important the moment you start talking to her. Whether she was hugging a bridesmaid, laughing with family, or smiling across the room, you could see how deeply she loves the people in her life.
That warmth carried through the entire day.
Later that afternoon, the ceremony inside The Oliver Building in Kansas City was breathtaking.
At the center stood a stunning white floral-covered chuppah, creating a soft and romantic focal point for their vows. Nearby, the staircase was decorated with candles and florals, adding a warm glow that made the entire space feel intimate and welcoming.
But what made the ceremony truly unforgettable wasn’t just the design. It was the emotion.
Throughout the room, you could see it. Family members wiped away tears. Friends exchanged knowing smiles. Everyone leaned fully into the moment.
Madi and Trevor have a way of making people feel deeply connected to them, and that love was reflected in every single guest present.
It was the kind of ceremony where the room seemed to hold its breath during the vows, and then exhale together when they finally said “I do.”
And after that exhale was a huge roar as Trevor broke the glass under the chuppah and they finally kissed.
One of the best parts about hosting a wedding at The Oliver Building is stepping right outside into the West Bottoms.
The historic brick streets and industrial textures create the perfect backdrop for portraits and capture the unmistakable character of Kansas City.
We wandered through the streets together, letting the energy of the neighborhood guide us. These moments felt playful and relaxed. Laughter echoed between buildings, and there was a little bit of frolicking through the streets.
Later, we returned inside the venue. The mood shifted slightly as we leaned into a more editorial feel, highlighting the architecture and atmosphere of The Oliver Building.
The combination of historic streets outside and elegant interiors inside gave their gallery a beautiful sense of balance.
A huge part of what made this day flow so effortlessly was the incredible work of Reagan Brown Events.
Reagan brings a calm and steady presence to a wedding day. Behind the scenes, she was coordinating vendors, managing the timeline, and making sure every detail came together smoothly.
Because of that, Madi and Trevor were able to stay fully present with the people around them.
Hiring a planner often becomes one of the most meaningful decisions couples make during the planning process. When someone is guiding the day with care and intention, couples can focus on the moments that matter most.
With Reagan leading the day, everything felt smooth and beautifully paced from start to finish.
When the reception began, the celebration truly came alive.
The dance floor filled quickly and stayed that way for the rest of the evening. Guests gathered with huge smiles and drinks in hand, ready to celebrate Madi and Trevor.
Their signature cocktails were inspired by their beloved pup Milo, which added such a fun and personal detail that guests loved.
Later in the evening, late-night pizza arrived, and this moment carried special meaning.
During their engagement session, Madi and Trevor shared pizza together. Bringing it back on their wedding night felt like the most perfect full-circle moment. When Madi grabbed a slice, she teared up, realizing how beautifully that memory had come back into the story of their wedding day.
It was simple, heartfelt, and completely them.
Meanwhile, guests loved watching Libby Rule, the live wedding painter, capture the evening in real time. Throughout the night, people gathered around to watch the painting evolve.
It turned the artwork into a shared experience for everyone in the room.
For couples dreaming of a venue that blends historic Kansas City charm with thoughtful design, The Oliver Building truly offers something special.
With three floors that allow the day to unfold naturally, beautiful getting-ready spaces, and the charm of the West Bottoms just outside the door, the venue creates a relaxed and memorable experience.
When a space like this is paired with a thoughtful vendor team – planners, florists, artists, and musicians – the day becomes something more than just an event. It becomes a collection of moments that stay with you.
That’s exactly what Madi and Trevor created: a wedding day filled with laughter, emotion, and the kind of joy that spreads through an entire room.
If you’re planning your own wedding at The Oliver Building, or simply dreaming about what your wedding day could look like, I would truly love to hear your story.
