I’m a wedding photographer based in the Midwest! With years of experience photographing weddings and couples, I personalize each session to ensure that we are documenting the memories that you will want to relive for generations to come. Be sure to pop over to my inbox and say hi!

When couples ask me about the best engagement photo locations, they’re usually expecting me to hand them a list of my favorite spots in Kansas City.
And while I absolutely have favorites (we’ll get to those!), my first question is always a little different:
What place feels like the two of you?
Because years from now, I don’t want you to look back at your engagement photos and simply think, “That park was pretty.” I want you to remember grabbing coffee together every Saturday morning, cheering on your favorite team downtown, walking your dog around the neighborhood, or dancing barefoot in the backyard where you spend summer evenings together.
Your engagement session isn’t about finding the most Instagram-worthy location. It’s about documenting this season of your life exactly as it feels right now.
That said, if you’re looking for inspiration, here are some of my favorite engagement photo locations in Kansas City, and the couples they’re perfect for.
Some places have become Kansas City staples for a reason. They’re timeless, elegant, and instantly recognizable without feeling overdone when we make them your own.

If you love clean architecture, wide open spaces, and a mix of modern and classic backdrops, the Nelson is always a beautiful choice. Whether we’re wandering the sculpture park or using the museum’s stunning exterior as a backdrop, it offers endless variety while still feeling sophisticated.
Perfect for couples who love art, architecture, or want a timeless editorial feel.

With sweeping skyline views and gorgeous stone architecture, Liberty Memorial gives us one of the most iconic views of downtown Kansas City. Sunset here is especially magical, and it’s a wonderful choice if you want your city to be part of your story.
Perfect for couples who love the city skyline and dramatic golden hour light.

The sleek curves, bright white architecture, and modern lines make this one of my favorite engagement photo locations for couples wanting something polished and romantic. It feels effortlessly elegant while still letting your personalities shine.
Perfect for couples dreaming of a modern, cinematic look.
Sometimes your favorite date nights make the best engagement sessions.
Instead of wandering through a park, imagine sipping espresso together, sharing a booth, ordering your favorite cocktail, or laughing over appetizers. These sessions feel cozy, intimate, and wonderfully personal.

Classic Kansas City charm meets timeless elegance. The historic interiors create a romantic atmosphere that feels straight out of an old movie. They do require a permit fee, but it is 100% worth it!

Dim lighting, live jazz, and vintage character make this an incredible choice for couples who love a little mood and nostalgia. They only allow photography at certain times during the week, so working together on this is essential.

If celebrating over a great dinner is your thing, Stock Hill offers an upscale atmosphere that photographs beautifully while still feeling relaxed and authentic. Nice, bright natural light gives this a bar feeling without it becoming too dramatic.

Bright, colorful, and full of personality, this is such a fun option for couples whose favorite dates always seem to start with coffee.
Maybe you want something that feels unmistakably urban without choosing the obvious Kansas City landmarks.

Historic buildings, colorful murals, quiet streets, and beautiful architecture all come together here. It’s a fantastic option if you want a downtown feel with plenty of variety.

With its industrial charm, creative spaces, and modern character, The Truitt offers something a little unexpected while still feeling polished and stylish. Booking a staycation and really diving into the cozy vibe is ideal for this location.
Not every couple dreams of skyscrapers and architecture. Some feel most at home surrounded by trees, wildflowers, or open fields, and Kansas City has plenty of beautiful outdoor engagement photo locations.

One of the city’s most beloved parks, Loose Park offers gardens, walking paths, mature trees, and blooms throughout much of the year.

If you want your photos to feel peaceful, adventurous, and tucked away from the city, Burr Oak Woods is a beautiful choice with wooded trails and natural scenery.

Open fields, lakeside views, wooded trails, and gorgeous sunsets make this one of the most versatile outdoor locations around Kansas City.

Seriously.
The front porch where you drink coffee every morning. The neighborhood where you walk your dog after work.
The skating rink where you spent your first date. The dive bar where you met.
The bookstore you wander every weekend. The local pizza place where everyone knows your order.
Your home.
These are the places that tell your story.
Some of my favorite engagement sessions haven’t happened at famous landmarks. They’ve happened while couples baked cookies together, watered their garden, played board games in their living room, roller skated through their favorite neighborhood, or simply cuddled on the couch with their pets.
Those photos become so much more than engagement pictures.
They become little time capsules.
Five, ten, or twenty years from now, your house may look different. You may have moved neighborhoods. Your favorite coffee shop may have changed owners. The backyard where you danced barefoot one summer evening may belong to someone else.
But your photos will bring you right back to this chapter of your story.
And that’s the kind of magic I want to document.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the possibilities, don’t worry! You don’t have to decide alone.
When we’re planning your engagement session, we’ll talk through what your weekends actually look like, the places that matter to you, and the kind of memories you want these photos to hold.
The prettiest location isn’t always the best one.
The most meaningful one almost always is.
So whether we’re wandering the Nelson, sipping coffee downtown, chasing sunset through Shawnee Mission Park, or simply hanging out in your own backyard, we’ll create photos that feel like the two of you.
Because that’s what makes them unforgettable.
